Anyone with an NHS email address will be able to claim two £10 Uber rides to and from work over Christmas, and a £10 meal or grocery delivery over Christmas via Uber Eats. This year, Uber has partnered with ex-NHS doctor and mental health ambassador Dr. Alex George to raise awareness of the offer and encourage more NHS staff to sign up.
Dr. Alex George kicked off the campaign today with a special delivery to one of his healthcare heroes, Vas who works at the A&E department of Whittington Hospital, London. As a way to say thank you to Vas & his team, Dr. Alex delivered lunch to his NHS hero and spread the word about the offer from Uber and Uber Eats
Dr George, said: “Those in the healthcare sector work tirelessly over the festive period to make sure we’re all taken care of. It was so lovely to be able to visit my personal NHS hero Vas, who is an A&E doctor in North London. He works so very hard and I know from working on the ward myself, that something as simple as a free lunch or ride home can make all the difference after a stressful day.”
Andrew Brem, General Manager for the UK and Ireland, Uber, said: “Our brilliant NHS has seen us through a pandemic and now thousands of staff will be working through Christmas. We want to make sure that travel is one less thing to worry about this Christmas by offering a free ride to and from work.”
NHS staff need to ensure that an Uber account is linked to their NHS email. Users will then be sent a promo code which they will need to add to their Uber account in order to claim the offer.
The Christmas time NHS campaign was launched 6 years ago as NHS staff who delay their own festive celebrations in order to care for the public face real issues with transport and food on the day.
The Uber and Uber Eats codes can be redeemed for trips and orders on the 24 & 25 December 2022.
