BENGALURU: Uber broke the law, lobbied with politicians, exploited violence against drivers, and deployed illegal practices in a bid to gain a dominant position in the markets they operated in, including India, says a report by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) that has just been released.
A spokesperson for Uber did not deny the contents of the report, and acknowledged that “mistakes” and “missteps” were made, but said that those culminated five years ago in “one of the most infamous reckonings in the history of corporate America.”
