Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, discussed with Hossein Amirabdollahian, Iran's minister of foreign affairs, bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them further in the common interest of both countries and the region.
In their telephone call, they exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE is always keen to cooperate with neighboring countries to promote security, stability, development and prosperity in the region.
Last month, the UAE said its ambassador to Iran, Saif Mohammed Al Zaabi, would return to Tehran.
The move is in line with UAE efforts to strengthen relations with Iran "to achieve the common interests of the two countries and the wider region", the foreign ministry said in a statement.
