U2 have announced extra dates as part of their residency at Las Vegas’s new Sphere venue.
The Irish rock band will now be performing their show U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere through until February next year. The residency constitutes the first live performances from the group since 2019.
Eleven new dates were announced, bringing the total length of U2’s residency to 36 performances.
The band, comprising lead vocalist Bono, guitarist The Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Bram van den Berg, began their run at the Sphere in September.
U2 are the first performers to play at the Sphere, a high-tech new arts venue featuring a 16K immersive LED screen and 167,000 speakers.
The orb-like structure was erected east of the Las Vegas Strip, and cost a staggering $2.3bn to make. Standing at 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, it is listed as the world’s biggest spherical structure.
The exterior of Sphere has 1.2 million LED lights, each consisting of 48 individual diodes capable of emitting 256 million different colours.
The venue can hold 18,000 people and is also set to play host to film screenings and sports events.
Presale tickets for the new shows will be available until Saturday 21 October at 10pm PT.

General tickets will go on sale from Wednesday 25 October at 11am PT, and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.
After visuals from U2’s opening night show made their way online last month, fans shared awed reactions to the new venue on social media.
“That sunset/sunrise view is savage, those kinds of shots always blew me away in an imax but this must be next level immersion,” one person wrote.
“Why didn’t I know there was a venue inside?” wrote another. “Why did I think it was just a stupid expensive billboard? My entire opinion has changed, this rules.”
The band played a number of their hits, including “Mysterious Ways,” “Zoo Station,” “All I Want is You,” and “Desire”.
“Look at all this stuff. … Elvis has definitely not left this building,” Bono told the crowd. “It’s an Elvis chapel. It’s an Elvis cathedral. Tonight, the entry into this cathedral is a password: flirtation.”
