Smith, who is leading the investigation into the allegations against Trump, is inclined to expedite the proceedings. It is anticipated that he will file his response before the February 20 deadline. The Supreme Court will then have the option to either address the issue of immunity, affirm the lower court's ruling, or return the case to the full appeals court.
