In a daring move to retaliate against Iranian-backed militants, the United States executed strikes on three facilities in Iraq. The strikes were conducted as a response to a drone attack on American forces at the Erbil Air Base in Iraq. The Defense Secretary confirmed that the strikes targeted a group known as Kataib Hezbollah.
The objective of these strikes was twofold. Firstly, the U.S. aimed to degrade the infrastructure used by these militants to carry out their attacks. Secondly, they sought to destroy the launch sites responsible for launching both drones and rockets. This measure was taken in light of the continuous onslaught of over 100 attacks by Iran-backed groups on U.S. and coalition bases in Iraq and Syria.
