This military action was in direct response to the belligerent Houthi attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea. The intention behind these strikes was to send a clear message to the Houthis and Iran regarding their hostile activities.
The Houthis, who have been designated as a terrorist organization by the Trump administration, have been engaged in a controversial war with Saudi Arabia for the past three years. However, in February of 2021, in a speech by President Biden, efforts were made to halt this conflict and prioritize the prevention of civilian casualties. Unfortunately, since then, the situation has not improved.
