Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora purse and prize money for world title fight

Derek Chisora is expected to earn £2million to fight WBC champion Tyson Fury who will likely pocket at least five times as much.

The 'Gypsy King' will return to the ring tonight in a WBC title defence a gainst former opponent Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Chisora will come into the contest as a huge underdog given his previous two fights against the champion ended in defeat in both 2011 and 2014 respectively.

Chisora was contacted by Fury to take the fight at short-notice after the champion's potential defence against Anthony Joshua collapsed. And the 34-year-old champion is expected to earn around £X million for his latest outing which will take place in front of 60,000 people at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Meanwhile after being handed a huge opportunity by Fury despite suffering 12 defeats in his career, 'WAR' is expected to earn around £2m guaranteed prior to receiving his share of the pay-per-view and gate revenue. This represents an increase of four times more than his recent guaranteed purse for one of his career-best victories against Kubrat Pulev last time out.

The champion appeared to confirm his rival's purse during a press conference, in which he said: “Listen, you should let me manage you, I’m the man who has got you this two million quid, me, not AJ [Joshua] and I’ll do it for free. I won’t take a tenner off of you, because I like to help people out for nothing. Free of charge, for old time’s sake, let me manage you.”

Fury has earned lucrative purses for his previous fights in recent years pocketing up to £30m for his rematch outing against Wilder in 2020. During the coronavirus pandemic, Fury fought Wilder and managed to earn a £13m purse despite having a reduced gate revenue as a result of the circumstances outside the ring.

For his British mega-fight against Dillian Whyte in April, Fury earned at least a whopping £25m from his successful mandatory defence which took place in front of a record 94,000 at Wembley Stadium. It is expected that his current purse will fall short of that but will still come close to being an eight-figure purse given the capacity crowd of 60,000.

A lucrative bout with Oleksandr Usyk could be set up if he defeats Chisora, with negotiations having already taken place to stage the event in the Middle East. But Fury has insisted he will follow the money after his upcoming clash, having previously demanded a record £500m purse to face the Ukrainian.

He said during an interview with iFL TV: "Let me tell you all of these men I don't care who it is, wherever I can get the most money for my next fight I will fight even if it is at middleweight. Wherever the biggest money is that is where we will go. All of them are the same they are boxing men with arms and legs.

"So if someone wants to pay me an obscene amount of money to fight somebody then it's game on. I have boxed for absolutely f*** all in the past so I am sure I will box for an obscene amount won't I?"
