Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora date and venue emerges for trilogy fight

WBC heavyweight world champion Fury announced his retirement in April after beating Dillian Whyte at Wembley, claiming he had not got "anything more to give" and that "no amount of money" would lure him back.

Few thought it was the end of the road for Fury, 33. However, the belief was that he would pursue a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship - Oleksandr Usyk defends his three titles in a rematch with Anthony Joshua on August 20.

The focus on Chisora, who snapped a three-fight losing streak with a split-decision victory over Kubrat Pulev last month is a surprise, especially given Fury has twice defeated the Londoner in lopsided fashion, most recently in 2014.

Nevertheless, a source told ESPN that the event was being eyed for December at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The source added that Chisora’s purse, which was extended by Goldstar Promotions, the company that handles Fury's meet-and-greets across the UK, had fallen “seven figures” short of the 38-year-old’s expectations.

Chisora and Fury had been close but their relationship has soured in recent months, with the Zimbabwe-born Chisora siding with Dillian Whyte in Fury’s most recent outing.

Chisora told TalkSport in the build-up to Fury vs Whyte that he was confident of the latter's success. “I’m willing to put my house on Dillian Whyte knocking Tyson Fury out,” he said.

The Gypsy King went on to knock out Whyte in the sixth round and claimed his and Chisora’s friendship was over.

Also speaking to TalkSport he said: “I thought Derek did absolutely fantastic [against Kubrat Pulev]. However, me and Derek Chisora used to be chum buddies. I went to Monaco to support him. I went to Hamburg to support him. Then, as soon as I have a fight he goes, ‘I’ll pick the other guy’.”
