Tyson Fury teases "monstrous" fight as world champion edges closer to return

Tyson Fury has declared he will be announcing a "monstrous" fight for his impending ring return after talks broke down for an undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

The heavyweight world champion had been training for an April 29 fight date against Usyk at Wembley Stadium with all of the belts on the line for the first time in the four-belt era. However, he is still keen to get a fight in this summer, with it expected he and Usyk will re-visit fight talks later in the year.

Rumours are currently swirling about what may be Fury's plan, with the heavyweight courting a number of possible fights. He could face a top contender like Zhilei Zhang, or perhaps even UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou who recently left the promotion without ever losing his title.

"I've got some massive, massive news coming," Fury told fans in a social media clip where he can be seen training his legs, with the WBC, broadcaster BT Sport and promoters Frank Warren and Top Rank Boxing all tagged. "An imminent fight date, an absolutely monstrous fight. Keep tuned because the WBC world heavyweight king is back in action coming very, very soon. Peace out."

Fury has been out of action since December, when he cruised to a brutal stoppage win over old rival Derek Chisora in an outlandish trilogy. The pair had already fought twice before, with Fury comfortably winning both of their contests before ever even becoming world champion.

Fans have been upset with the Brit over the last few months, with many feeling his excessive demands cost him an undisputed fight with Usyk. He first demanded that he receive a 70/30 purse split, to which the Ukrainian agreed despite having more of the belts, and then insisted that the pair agree not to have a rematch clause.

It has been reported that Fury could face Usyk in December in the main event of an unprecedented tournament that would see Anthony Joshua fight Deontay Wilder in the co-main. The event would take place in Saudi Arabia and could see each man receive monster payouts to play their parts in history.
