Tyson Fury spells out terms for super-fight with UFC legend Jon Jones

Tyson Fury has explained that a fight with UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones would have to be in the boxing ring, not an octagon as Dana White suggested.

Fury was enraged last week when veteran commentator Joe Rogan said that he would back Jones if the pair were to meet in a street fight, claiming that the boxer couldn't overcome the difference in grappling skill. He first claimed that he would be able to come out on top in such a meeting, before insisting that any bout between the pair would have to be in boxing.

And Fury has once again declared that the only way he would fight Jones is if the pair were to have a boxing match, even ditching his previous offer to Francis Ngannou of hybrid rules. It comes after UFC boss White made an offer to the Brit to come over to the octagon to face his rival.

"If you guys want to fight me it’s got to be under boxing rules," Fury wrote in an Instagram story response to renowned MMA manager Abraham Kawa, who works with Jones. "I don’t roll round the floor, I stand up and punch.” This is after White said that the UFC would be happy to entertain a potential cage fight between Fury and their heavyweight champion.

White said he would be willing to make the super-fight happen in his promotion, telling BroBible on Wednesday: “Jon Jones is the baddest dude on the planet. There's no debate, there's no denying it. I don't care what anybody says, they can try to spin it, a lot of this stuff is clickbait and you know how I am.

"If Tyson Fury really wants to fight Jon Jones in the UFC I will make it happen, here's my thing, right now; 'Tyson if you’re serious let me know', Tyson and I have a good relationship. I like Tyson Fury and if he's serious let's find out. Listen, we can talk all we want, Tyson can talk, Jon can talk, I can talk, we can all talk let’s do it.

"If Tyson's serious then we can all do it. Listen, I got Floyd Mayweather to fight, we paid Floyd and got Floyd the number he wanted. If Tyson Fury is serious and he wants to fight Jon Jones in the UFC then let's start talking."

Jones recently returned to action after bulking up to a new heavyweight frame and handily picked apart top contender Ciryl Gane at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to win the belt. He is now expected to face the legendary former champion Stipe Miocic later this year once terms have been agreed.

His feud with Fury started when Rogan insisted Jones would win on the streets during a recent episode of his show, telling guest Andrew Schulz: “You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet? If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all of my chips on black.

"Tyson Fury is an amazing boxer – he doesn’t have a f***ing chance in hell of making it out of that room. He has no chance of making it out of that room. Zero chance. [Fury] would have to catch Jon immediately with one punch, and I just don’t see that happening, man. The threat of the takedown looms so large. That shot will come so unexpectedly. When he gets his hands around you, you’ll be so stunned.”
