Tyson Fury's six children will all quit school at age 11 due to tradition

Tyson Fury's children Venezuela and Prince have already followed in their father's footsteps by leaving schooling at the age of 11 following the conclusion of her primary education.

The WBC heavyweight champion and his wife Paris come from a Traveller background, with the tradition being followed by Tyson when he was a child. He left his schooling at a young age to begin tarmacking alongside his brothers and grandfather, Hughie.

In 2015, his father John revealed that Tyson was his siblings "were shifting 15 tons of tarmac a day from the age of 11, on one meal a day". This lifestyle has clearly given the undefeated 34-year-old WBC champion an inner steel, with his reputation sealed as one of the greatest British heavyweights of all time.

Despite having earned millions throughout the course of his career, Fury could provide his family with a top class private education, but it is expected that his other four children will follow in the same footsteps of his oldest two.

This is despite some initial doubts for the Fury family, with Tyson in particular expressing his doubts as Paris made her feelings clear during a 2020 ITV documentary: "We finish school at primary age, which is the traditional traveller way," she explained. "We've just brought the tradition into the 21st century. Venezuela wanted to leave school and all her friends were leaving. Her tutor is going to keep her up to date with all of her tests. She will also be having piano lessons."

"Me and Tyson have talked about the kids going to school," added Paris. "Tyson wants the boys to go into education but I don't; it's just not what we've ever done. I was brought up as a Traveller and I want my kids to be brought up as Travellers. They will probably leave school at 11 and they'll be educated at home from then. The boys will take a wife and make their family and the girls will take a husband and make their family. Until they take a husband or wife they won't be leaving the home and I wouldn't want them to."

Tyson has expressed his own view, saying that he has spent his life breaking rules and that the schooling tradition is another precedent which could be broken despite his wife's thoughts on the matter: "You say it's something we've never done but I'm a precedent setter, am I not? Now I've set these laws and precedents, you watch how many will follow. The parents of these kids, I call them dream killers. Just because something went wrong in their life you can't pawn it off on your kids."

Fury is aiming to retain his WBC heavyweight title when he fights Derek Chisora for a third time on Saturday night.
