Tyson Fury corrects GMB presenter Ben Shephard as he explains retirement U-turn

Tyson Fury was quick to remind Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard that he set a record attendance at Wembley for his last fight.

Heavyweight champion Fury, who faces Derek Chisora for the third time on December 3, defended his title in front of 94,000 fans when he knocked out Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April. It was a record-breaking attendance at the stadium and Fury made sure to remind Shephard of that when the presenter incorrectly said there were only 80,000 people watching on.

"I was at your last fight at Wembley, it was an extraordinary experience," Shephard said. "I can't imagine what it would have been like for you, 80,000 people in that stadium, it was just miraculous." Before Shephard could finish his sentence, Fury butted in by stating: "94,000 Ben, 94,000." Kate Garraway then backed up her co-host by adding: "To be fair, he was watching you rather than counting, he was distracted."

Fury insisted he would retire from boxing after beating Whyte in April but backtracked on his decision by trying to negotiate a fight with longtime rival Anthony Joshua. Talks of the fight broke down and Fury now opted to face Chisora in a trilogy fight, a decision that was met with with heavy criticism from fans as Chisora has already been beaten decisively by Fury twice.

"I was retired from April until July, so three or four months," Fury said. "I needed a good rest after being in boxing for such a long time, I wanted to spent some time with my family and at home. After three or four months, I realised that I miss what I do. I miss fighting, training, gearing up for a big event."

Fury recently made headlines for his actions in an interview with YouTube presenter True Geordie, whose real name is Brian Davis. After being pressed on the matchup, Fury angrily told Davis to "kiss his balls" before labelling him a "little t***pot" and ending the interview. "I think you’re a t***** and I won’t be doing anymore interviews with you little t***pot, bearded, bald-headed t***er. Kiss my balls, you little w*****. You little s***house," he said.

Queensbury Promotions boss Frank Warren defended the decision to match Fury with Chisora as they want the heavyweight champion to have another fight before facing Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed clash next year. Fury had planned to take on unified champion Usyk to crown the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, but the Ukrainian revealed he will not be ready until early 2023 which forced Fury to find another opponent.
