World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury says he will fight in Cardiff on December 3, but Anthony Joshua will not be his opponent.
Fury is set to announce who he'll face in the coming days and a third fight against Derek Chisora is reportedly agreed.
The Principality Stadium had been due to host the biggest fight in British boxing history, with Fury offering Joshua a deal last month. But continued wrangling between the two camps means the contest has not materialised.
The venue has been provisionally booked for the week after Wales' autumn rugby internationals finish, and Fury will be there. Fury is dubbing the fight 'Battle at the Castle' in reference to nearby Cardiff Castle and reminiscent of the recent WWE event which took place in the city.
“Hey guys, second session of the day. Absolutely smashing it," Fury said on social media. “December 3, I’m coming for you.
“We’re about to announce an opponent this week some time. Get up there my boy. Cardiff here we come, get up.”
Chisora was involved in a heated ringside altercation with Fury in Manchester last month at the Joe Joyce v Joseph Parker fight. The pair have previously fought in 2011 and 2014, with unbeaten Fury winning both bouts. Chisora has a career record of 45 fights, with 33 wins and 12 losses.
The Welsh Rugby Union, which also owns the new luxury Parkgate hotel in the city, is understood to be very keen for the fight to happen, with Fury certain to attract tens of thousands of fans to the city.
