Tyson Fury claims Thor Bjornsson avoided fight with him at Iceland gym

Tyson Fury has claimed Thor Bjornsson didn't turn up to his gym in Iceland after 'The Gypsy King' travelled to the country in the hopes of fighting him.

Heavyweight champion Fury is in talks to fight the former World's Strongest Man winner Bjornsson, who stands at 6'9" and weighs over 150kg. Fury insisted his professional career was over after knocking out Dillian Whyte in April and he would only step in the ring again for exhibition bouts, but has recently teased a return to face Derek Chisora in a trilogy fight.

The Brit travelled to Iceland on Thursday in the hopes of crossing paths with Bjornsson at his gym in Kopavogur. Posting a video of himself at Keflavik airport, Fury said: "You know where we are guys? Iceland. You know what we're doing guys, we're looking for Thor. Come out and fight like a man."

In a later video, Fury can be seen outside Thor's Power Gym but he claimed the strongman was nowhere to be seen, stating: "So we came to Iceland to fight Thor, he's not here. Now Thor, if you want any smoke from 'The Gypsy King' you're going to have to come to Morecambe Bay and fight me on a pilgrimage. All the best, see you soon."

Fury continued to troll Bjornsson by posting a string of videos claiming he is the "new Viking" of Iceland and that he "owns" the country. The heavyweight champion also got his dad John involved, as he stated whilst wearing a Viking helmet: "So dad, we're the new Vikings now aren't we?". John then replied: "We've run them out of town haven't we son. We're in Iceland and we can't get a fight".

Despite Bjornsson not turning up to welcome Fury's challenge, the strongman has previously stated he thinks he could surprise the Brit in a potential fight because of his large stature. "He has never fought a man my size, my strength and we all know in boxing it only takes one punch and I'm a heavy hitter. You just saw that against Eddie Hall, so I would just do my best, train my a** off and first and foremost make it a show for the people.

"I'm a believer and I would never go into any bout no matter who I fight with the belief that I'm going to lose. Even though my chances are low, I still fight like I'm going to war, I train like I'm going to war and that's why I've succeeded in life."
