Tyson Fury begins social media blackout as he confirms Oleksandr Usyk fight

Tyson Fury has announced his trademark social media blackout as he enters training camp for his clash with Oleksandr Usyk.

The 'Gypsy King' has been in negotiations to face unified world champion Usyk in an undisputed clash for several months, with talks hitting several snags along the way. Both Usyk and Fury came face-to-face after the Briton's win over Derek Chisora in December, with the fight looking like it may finally take place.

Several disagreements threatened to stall the bout this week, with the pair initially forced to publicly agree to a 70/30 split in Fury's favour, before he further demanded there be no rematch clause. Despite it remaining unclear exactly what terms have been put in place, Fury appears to have now announced that the fight will indeed take place.

He posted a final Instagram video message, during which he said: "Hi guys, as fun as it's been over the last few days terrorising Usyk and his team, tomorrow I'm gonna knuckle down into training camp and I'll be doing a blackout as I always do on social media. April 29 is definitely a worker, I will see you all on the night. Tune in, or be there or be square.

"This is the biggest fight in British boxing history, the fight of the century. Two undefeated world heavyweight champions throwing down to see who is the No 1 in the division - the undisputed heavyweight championship on the line. Peace out, good training to Usyk... let the best man win."

He then added in the caption: "I only came back on Instagram to make the fight and it worked. I have been off it since October 22, came back on for four days and made the biggest fight in boxing history. April 29 Wembley Stadium."

Fresh doubts emerged on social media this week that the fight would materialise, with the pair rowing over specific terms including a rematch clause. Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk suggested the showdown would not take place, and if it was not agreed for April 29 that the offer would no longer stand.

However the Briton's promoter Frank Warren remained positive throughout and also reiterated the message that the fight was completed in his own message. He told iFL TV: “This fight’s gonna happen. I don’t want to get into [deadlines] it’s irrelevant. It’s all totally f***ing irelevant. The fight is happening. End of story. I’m announcing the fight’s happening. What more can I say? It’s happening, boys. And that’s it. Don’t worry.”

He also added: “This guy went to Germany to fight Wladimir Klitschko, went to the USA three times to fight Deontay Wilder. The one thing about Tyson is he’s got balls as big as – just massive balls. He trains religiously every day. He’s fit as a butcher’s dog. He’s not overweight or anything, so he’s ready to go. No problem about that whatsoever."
