Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte both made eye-watering money last night as their final purses have been revealed. The two fighters went head to head at Wembley Stadium in front of 94,000 people - with the main event wow'ing everybody in attendance.
Fury displayed his strength, speed, agility and boxing IQ in an incredible performance as he kept Whyte in his range as he worked his jab, before flooring his opponent with a swift and stunning knockout in the sixth round.
Whyte found little joy on the night, as he became frustrated quickly in the fight and begun swinging wildly in an attempt to catch Fury with one big punch. But that never came, as Fury's slick ability to dip and dodge before landing his own shots proved just too much for the Body Snatcher.
Fury vs Whyte highlights and LIVE reaction
After winning the fight decisively, Fury announced his intentions to retire from professional boxing. Before doubling down in numerous interviews afterwards. It would bring an end to one of the greatest careers in boxing history - retiring with 32 wins and one draw in his 33 fights.
And it has now been revealed just how much money he, and Whyte, both made in their fights last night.
Frank Warren, Fury’s promoter, won the purse bid with an offer of approximately £30m, beating out the £23m bid put forward by Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn.
While an 80:20 split in favour of Fury, that division only related to 90 per cent of Warren’s £30m winning bid, because the promoter must deposit the other 10 per cent.
But how much did both fighters make?
Tyson Fury - £29.3 million
Fury's base salary saw him receive £26.2 million, with a winning bonus of £3.1 million.
Dillian Whyte - £5.8 million
Whyte receives his base salary.
Therefore, the final purse split ended up at 82/18 in Fury's favour.
