Tyrone crash: Tributes continue to pour in for victims ahead of community vigil

The victims of the tragic Tyrone crash which claimed the lives of three family members yesterday morning have been named locally.

Above is Julia McSorley, who died along with her nephew and niece - Dan McKane and Christine Duffy - after a devastating crash involving a minivan and a lorry, which happened on the A5 Tullyvar Road near Aughnacloy shortly after 7am on Thursday morning.

It's understood the family members, who were all from the wider Strabane area, were returning from England, where they had attended a family funeral recently, when the crash occurred.

A community vigil is scheduled to take place in honour of the three victims at 7pm tonight, with a solidarity rosary planned for the Grotto in Townsend Street, near the family home.

Strabane parish priest Fr Declan Boland has led the tributes, vowing to continue to support the entire family through such an unimaginably tragic time for them.

"The community here is deeply saddened and profoundly shocked by what has happened," Fr Boland told Belfast Live.

"Everyone is just in stark disbelief that this family has been taken so tragically at this time so unexpectedly...

"They cannot come to terms with it, they are meeting in small groups to help each other and people are arriving constantly.

"There’s lots of hugs, lots of tears, lots of disbelief but there is an overall sense of incredible sadness and loss.

"As the news has emerged the community has been greatly supporting the family and will continue to do so in the days ahead."

Four other members of their extended family were taken to hospital following the crash.
