A Scots island community has been left devastated by the deaths of two youngsters.
Orkney Islands Council shared the shattering news as they offered support to locals during the "unimaginably difficult time".
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed but the local authority said youngsters in the community were being supported.
A statement from Orkney Islands Council issued on their Facebook page read: "It is with great sadness that we reflect on the tragic deaths of two young people within our community.
"We're sure you will join us in saying that our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with all their friends and families at this unimaginably difficult time. This has been a difficult week for our young people and families."
The council said schools were working with guidance teams to provide support and counselling for the foreseeable future.
They continued: "Pupils and families who wish to access support whilst on study leave should contact their school directly. We urge young people that if they are in distress to reach out for help or support. Please respect the families at this extremely difficult time."
Police Scotland have been asked for comment.
