Armed police were called to a reported dog attack which left two women in hospital.
Officers descended on a property in Lliswerry, Newport, shortly before 5pm on Wednesday evening, and were supported by a fire crew.
The patients - whose names and ages have not been released - were taken for treatment, while the dog was put into kennels.
