Two women allege US football star sexually assaulted them during flight to London

Two female flight attendants are suing an American footballer after alleging he sexually assaulted them on a flight to London.

The women filed a lawsuit last week against Brandon McManus who was a kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars team at the time of the alleged assaults.

Mr McManus has denied the allegations which were said to have taken place last year.

His former team acknowledged "the significance of the claims" made after the flight from Florida to London where they played an NFL game.

US broadcaster ESPN said the lawsuit alleges the sportsman rubbed himself against the the women and grinded against them.

One alleges the athlete attempted to kiss her while she was seated during turbulence.

They are asking for more than $1 million and a jury trial.

Lawyers acting for McManus said the allegations were "absolutely fictitious and demonstrably false".

The women are also accusing the football team of negligence because they failed to supervise Mr McManus and ensure a safe environment.

The Jaguars said they were looking into the allegations.

“It bears emphasizing that we insist on an organization built by people who represent our community and game with the highest character and class,” the team said in a statement.

Mr McManus now plays for the Washington Commanders after signing a multi-million deal with them earlier this year.

A spokesperson for his new team said they were “looking into the matter”.

They added: "We have been in communication with the League Office and Brandon’s representation, and will reserve further comment at this time.”
