Kayla Harrison made quick work of Kaitlin Young at PFL 6 to remain unbeaten and progress to this year's playoffs in London.
Harrison entered her fight with Young, who filled in for the injured Julia Budd, with three points under her belt having been taken the distance by Marina Mokhnatkina in April. This time around the former Olympic judoka earned a more decisive win, taking Young down early and ground and pounding her way to a first-round victory.
The win means Harrison, who turned 32 today, will face Martina Jindrova on August 20 in London. She said after her win: "The goal is to go out and dominate, but sometimes you just feel it. You just blast a double [leg takedown] like [coach] Mocco says."
Former UFC welterweight title challenger Rory MacDonald was upset by Sadibou Sy in the co-main event but still progressed to the playoffs. MacDonald was cut early in the opening round as Sy used his reach advantage well. The Canadian was doing his best to take Sy to the mat after being outstruck on the feet.
It was much the same for the second round, as Sy showed excellent takedown defence to fend off MacDonald’s pressure. Sy was offering little back but had a great third round by hurting MacDonald on the feet and scoring a takedown of his own. The judges saw it 30-27, 30-27 and 29-8 all in favour of Sy as he also earned a spot in the playoffs.

Magomed Magomedkerimov took himself closer to a second PFL title by knocking out short-notice replacement Dilano Taylor in the first round. The six-point win for Magomedkerimov meant two-time champion Ray Cooper couldn't qualify for the playoffs, despite the Hawaiian stopping Brett Cooper in just 24-seconds to earn six points.
Larissa Pacheco banked herself a spot in the playoffs with another first-round finish, stopping Genah Fabian with some brutal ground and pound after hurting the New Zealander on the feet. Pacheco will face Olena Kolesnyk, who was also in the winning column at PFL 6, in the next round. Also on the main card, Magomed Umalatov left Jarrah Al-Silawi motionless on the canvas with a devastating right hand.
