Two teenagers have been charged after a multi-vehicle pile-up on the Gold Coast on Thursday.
Police allege five teenage boys were travelling in a stolen Mazda when it crashed into a Mini Cooper S just after 4:30pm.
Investigators believe three teens fled the scene, while two others were transported to hospital along with the driver of the Mini.
All were treated for minor injuries.
The crash closed three of the four southbound lanes of the M1 at Pimpama, causing major traffic disruptions for commuters returning to the Gold Coast from Brisbane.
The highway was blocked for more than an hour with up to 10 vehicles involved in the crash.
Police say the Mazda was stolen from a Varsity Lakes address the night before the incident.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with one count of burglary, stealing and unlawful use of motor vehicle.
He was denied police bail.
A 16-year-old Tanah Merah boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle and granted police bail.
Both are set to appear at the Southport Children's Court at a later date.
