Two friends from Liverpool wound up on holiday with Davina McCall after bagging a free trip to a luxury resort in Cyprus.
Katie and Amie, both 40, joined Davina for an Aquafit class at the TUI BLUE Atlantica Aeneas, and spoke to the TV presenter, 55, about their friendship. They said they had been through countless challenges together, from parental loss to perimenopause, but had never before found the time to go on holiday together.
Katie said: We’ve been friends since we were teens, and it’s a crime this is our first ever holiday together. This week has made us realise that we must go on holiday more often – without life’s distractions.

"It’s important to make it a priority. Nostalgia is lovely, but taking the time to make new memories together is everything.”
Other groups of friends joined Davina at the resort after a national study revealed that more than a third of adults claim their best friend knows them better than their partner, yet sadly more than half (61%) struggle to find time to meet up.
The pairs of pals were chosen after a call out asked people to submit a few paragraphs about their respective friendships. The research also discovered that more than a quarter of those polled met their current best friends back at school (27%), but only one in four of these friendships last until our 50s, and 70% of adults over 40 admit they have less friends than they did in their 20s.
Davina said she has a similar relationship with her best friend as Katie and Amie do with each other. She said: “Sarah is probably my bestie, so I particularly lean on her when I’m finding life hard.
"She’s always been my rock through everything. There have been times where you know, I’ve really leant on her, she’s been amazing, and I feel like I’ve done the same for her. It’s just so nice to have your best friend throughout all of that supporting you.”
