Two Scots B&Bs named on list of very best in UK

TWO Scottish B&Bs have made a list of the very best in the UK.

This year’s AA Bed & Breakfast Awards covered four categories and winners have been selected due to "a mix of incredible hospitality, excellent customer service and delectable food".

The overall winner for guest accommodation of the year for Scotland was The Crusoe, which overlooks the harbour in the village of Lower Largo in Fife.

Originally built in 1824, AA said of the retreat: “The beach and sea come right up to certain bedrooms which are all extremely well appointed with many luxurious extras provided as standard.”

The AA also praised the food that's served in the bar and restaurant, saying it's "cooked with care, thought and imagination. And it’s locally sourced!"

Craigadam, in Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway, also picked up the AA Breakfast Award.

A country house set on a farm, it offers “gracious living in a relaxed environment”, according to AA.

They added: “The large bedrooms, most set around a courtyard, are strikingly individual in style. Public areas include a billiard room.”

Simon Numphud, managing director at AA hotel & hospitality services, said: "This year we’ve seen an extraordinary level of individuality, which is demonstrated by our winners’ inherent essence of charm and character.

“With so many brilliant B&Bs to choose from, holidaymakers can explore Britain safe in the knowledge there will be a comfortable haven to rest their heads and satisfy their tastebuds wherever they decide to go.”
