Two people have died in a single vehicle rollover on the Stuart Highway near Tennant Creek and a third person has been taken to hospital.
NT Police said they were first alerted to the incident 75 kilometres north of the town at around 6am on Thursday.
A 32-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were ejected during the single-vehicle crash and died.
A 32-year-old man survived the crash and remains in hospital.
Both the woman and the male survivor are from interstate, police said.
The cause of the crash was still yet to be determined, with local police and detectives from the Major Crash Unit investigating.
“We are appealing for any witnesses who were travelling on the Stuart Highway north of Tennant Creek prior to 6:00am yesterday, who saw a blue Mitsubishi Triton utility with interstate registration to contact police," Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Linder said.
“Any witnesses who stopped at the scene to assist the survivor, who are yet to speak to police, are also urged to contact police on 131 444.”
The NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services website said there have now been 36 deaths on the territory's roads this year, compared to 23 at this time last year and now above the 35 lives lost in 2021.
Last week, two people were found dead after a road crash along the Stuart Highway just outside of Larrimah.
