Two people have been charged with murder after the shocking death of a three-year-old boy in Woolwich, one of whom is the child’s mother.

Police were called to a hospital on January 3 after the three-year-old was admitted with “serious” injuries, raising concern amongst hospital staff.

Despite the best efforts of staff, the toddler sadly died on January 19.

The victim of the tragic case has now been identified as three-year-old Isiayah Henry from Woolwich.

Officers carried out initial enquiries and have now launched a safeguarding and criminal investigation.

Enquiries within the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are still ongoing.

Isiayah’s mother, Tanisha Henry, 28, and a second person, Mikael Williams, 30, were charged with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child after appearing at Woolwich Crown Court.

They faced counts of causing Isiayah grievous bodily harm with intent and causing or allowing him to suffer serious physical harm, court documents showed.

Their next appearance at Woolwich Crown Court is expected to take place on April 22.

Isiayah’s family have been informed and continues to receive support from specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police.
