A man allegedly injured two police officers during an arrest as he tried to flee a car park on a stolen motorcycle.
Rhys Haralambos Gregoriou, 30, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, July 20.
The Macgregor man is yet to enter pleas to charges of failing to stop a motor vehicle for police, riding a motor vehicle without consent, attempting to resist a territory official, going equipped for theft and driving a motor vehicle with alcohol in his breath.
Police allege officers were conducting patrols at a car park in Narrabundah about 2.50am on Monday, when they saw Gregoriou ride a KTM motorcycle into the area.
Police approached the motorcycle and directed Gregoriou to stop, however he allegedly attempted to accelerate away.
Officers attempted to apprehend the rider, but he allegedly resisted, with a short struggle occurring that caused minor injuries to two officers.
Police said the man was later handcuffed and arrested, before undergoing an alcohol screening test which allegedly returned a positive result.
A search of the man and his backpack allegedly uncovered items police say are associated with burglaries. The court later heard they included a multi-tool with a knife blade, black medical gloves, binoculars and a black beanie.
Police also allege checks of the motorcycle revealed it had been stolen.
On Monday, the court heard bail was applied for and was not opposed by the prosecution.
Magistrate James Stewart granted bail under strict conditions and told the man he was fortunate to be released from custody.
"I think you're the luckiest person in my list today," the magistrate said.
