Two new covid deaths in Bristol region on day all legal restrictions end

There were two new coronavirus deaths recorded within the Bristol region in the past 24 hours. It comes on the same day that all legal coronavirus restrictions have been lifted in the UK.

There is no legal obligation to self-isolate should you test positive. However, it is still publicly recommended to isolate to maintain the further spread of the virus.

The two new deaths come from within South Gloucestershire and bring the total deaths across the region since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,813. Across the entirety of the UK, there were 125 new deaths within the past 24 hours.

As for cases, they've dropped marginally across the UK and now sit at 38,933 cases. However, on a local level, they've risen from 741 cases yesterday to 844 cases today.

Bristol reported the most new cases with 345 since yesterday. Meanwhile, neighbouring South Gloucestershire had 225 new positive tests confirmed.

North Somerset had 170 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours. Bath and North East Somerset saw cases decline marginally from yesterday and reported 104 new cases today.

The number of positive test results in each area of the Bristol region since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results recorded today (Saturday, February 19) in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 49,604 (+104)

  • Bristol: 141,159 (+345)

  • North Somerset: 54,024 (+170)
  • South Gloucestershire: 79,733 (+225)

The number of deaths recorded in each area of Bristol since the beginning of the pandemic is as follows, with new deaths within 28 days of a positive test in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 289 (-)

  • Bristol: 666 (+2)
  • North Somerset: 414 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire: 444 (+2)
