PLANNED strikes of waste and recycling workers in 15 Scottish councils are scheduled to continue as unions consider the latest offer from COSLA.
And waste workers represented by Unite and GMB in Highland and Inverclyde councils have now announced the dates of their industrial action.
Members of Unite in these local authorities will strike between August 24 and September 1, while GMB members will strike from August 26 to August 29 and September 7 to September 10.
Other local authorities in Scotland have already announced the dates of their intended industrial action, with a strike currently underway in Edinburgh.
Disruption to bin collection, street cleaning and recycling centres in the affected authorities is expected if the strikes go ahead.
It comes as union leaders ruminate on the improved 5% pay increase offered last week, which was proposed alongside increasing the Scottish Local Government Living Wage to £10.50 per hour.
The current UK National Living Wage is £9.50 in Scotland.
Discussing the improved pay offer from COSLA GMB Scotland Senior Organiser Keir Greenaway said: “Our members want clarity from COSLA about whether this proposal comes with the assurance of a flat rate award, a key demand of the union pay claim.
“The prospect of the highest paid getting the biggest cash increases in any offer would be unacceptable, let alone one that is still well below inflation.
“Unions will now meet with COSLA officials tomorrow morning (August 23), but in the meantime all existing and planned strike action remains on.”
