The horror run of injuries this AFLW season has continued, with St Kilda's Jayde Van Dyk and Hawthorn's Tamara Luke the latest players cut down by ACL tears.
Van Dyk suffered her injury when her left knee twisted awkwardly while her kick was smothered during Sunday's 53-point win over Hawthorn.
Hawks ruck Luke ruptured her right ACL at the opening bounce of that game, and has also been ruled out for the rest of the season.
In an added blow to Hawthorn, fellow leadership group member Louise Stephenson could also miss the rest of the season after scans revealed she had fractured her left ankle.
The devastating injury news for those three players came just a day after scans revealed GWS defender Pepa Randall had ruptured her ACL and strained the medial collateral ligament in her left knee.
It came on top of the round-one carnage, when experienced Eagle Kellie Gibson and Brisbane defender Lily Postlethwaite suffered ACL tears.
Van Dyk is the second Saint to suffer an ACL injury this season following Renee Saulitis' pre-season setback.
"We're gutted to lose Jayde for the year, but she will have the entire club's support throughout this time," St Kilda's head of AFLW Tessie McManus said.
"Although we will miss Jayde's impact in defence, she will be just as valuable to our group from the sidelines as our backline continues to grow and develop."
The Hawks are 0-2 in their debut season and could ill afford to lose two leadership members in the one game.
Stephenson will undergo surgery on Tuesday, with her timeline to return to be determined afterwards.
