Two pedestrians have been seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Coolalinga, on the outskirts of Darwin.
In a statement released this morning, NT Police said the men, aged 39 and 33, had been hit by a vehicle travelling inbound on the Stuart Highway at about 7.45pm on Monday.
Police said the 39-year-old was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) with serious injuries, where he is currently in a stable condition.
The 33-year-old left the scene but was later picked up by a St John Ambulance crew, according to police.
He had received a serious arm injury and was also transported to RDH.
The police statement said the 29-year-old female driver of the vehicle involved had stopped at the scene and called emergency services.
They also said she tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
Investigating police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
The NT has the highest rate of pedestrian crashes in Australia, with the most recent data showing pedestrians are more than five and a half times more likely to die in a crash in the territory compared to the national average.
