Two men rushed to hospital after Rutherglen disturbance as police launch probe

Two men have been rushed to hospital following a police incident this afternoon (Sunday, April 3).

Officers and paramedics scrambled to Rutherglen Main Street after the alarm was raised at around 2.45pm with the area near the Vogue Bar sealed off.

At least two police vans were seen parked up near the scene alongside an ambulance and specialist paramedic vehicle, Daily Record reports.

Police confirmed the 'disturbance' just before 4pm on Sunday at which point officers were still on the scene.

At around 5.40pm police revealed two men were rushed to hospital as a result of the incident.

Their ages, the hospital they were taken to and the nature of their injuries were not disclosed.

Enquiries are ongoing as officers work investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Witnesses with video footage of the incident or anyone with information is urged to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: “At around 2.45pm on Sunday, April 3 officers were called to a report of a disturbance in Main Street, Rutherglen.

"Two men were taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

"Anyone with information or potential video footage of the incident is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 1811 of April 3."
