Two men are due to appear before Cork District Court this morning, Wednesday, June 14, at 10:30am charged in relation to the fatal assault of a 29-year-old man in Cork in December last year.
Matt O'Neill was hit in the head and neck with a bottle in an attack that occurred at Glenwood Estate, Carrigaline, Cork on December 28, 2022.
According to reports at the time, it is believed that he staggered out of the house and raised the alarm himself.

He had suffered heavy blood loss and underwent emergency surgery but remained in critical condition after.
The victim involved in the incident passed away in the hospital as a result of his injuries on January 8 of this year at Cork University Hospital (CUH) with his parents Pat and Eileen at his side.
Two men in their late teens were arrested in relation to the incident and charged at the time. Both appeared separately before Mallow District Court on Friday, December 30, 2022, and Cork District Court on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
O’Neill, who comes from a well-known family in Carrigaline, was remembered at his requiem mass in January as a brave soul who as a teenager helped save the lives of people who got into difficulty in the water.
At the mass, his father Pat said when Matt was just 13 years old he took part in a successful sea rescue in Kerry.
"One afternoon we were surfing in Derrynane in Kerry and six people were in serious trouble in the water."
"Together, Eileen, myself and Matt, we pulled the six of them out. But there was one who was in a particularly bad way and Matt took specific action going to him in the middle of the panic. Matt was 13 years old."
