Queensland police have charged two men with looting after they allegedly attempted to steal two motorcycles at a crime scene west of Brisbane where two police officers and a member of the public were fatally shot earlier this week.
Police were patrolling the Wieambilla property when they allege the 23-year-old and the 25-year-old approached the house and shed area on foot and began rolling the vehicles to a car parked nearby.
The incident is said to have occurred around 2am on Sunday morning.
Police say both men are from the nearby town of Tara.
They have each been charged with one count of unlawful trespass, stealing by looting and two counts of supplying a dangerous drug (cannabis) in unrelated matters.
The property has been the subject of sustained media attention after residents Gareth, Nathaniel and Stacey Train shot two police officers — Constable Rachel McCrow, 29, Constable Matthew Arnold, 26 — and their neighbour Alan Dare on Monday, December 12.
The three residents were later shot by police.
