Two men arrested after €1.36m worth of cannabis seized by Revenue

Two men have been arrested after €1.36m worth of cannabis was seized by Revenue and Gardai on Friday.

Revenue officers seized around 67.5 kilograms herbal cannabis in raids in Dublin and Meath.

Two men, aged 45 and 39, were arrested during the operation and are currently being held at a Garda Station in north Dublin.

A garda spokesperson said: "On today’s date, Friday 31st March 2023, as part of an operation targeting persons suspected to be involved in an organised crime operating in the Dublin and Meath area, a joint operation was conducted by personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Coolock and Raheny District Drugs Units and the Meath Divisional Drugs Unit.

"During the course of this operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 67.5 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.36 million.

"Gardaí arrested two males (aged 45 years and 39 years) who are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda Station in North Dublin.

"Investigations are ongoing."
