Two Manchester United youngsters to join Altrincham in innovative loan moves

Manchester United youngsters Joe Hugill and Sonny Aljofree are set to join National League side Altrincham in innovative loan moves.

It is understood the FA Youth Cup winners will continue to train with United and be available to play for the Under-21s as well as Altrincham.

Sources say the legislation allows them to gain non-league experience whilst remaining involved in the day-to-day environment at United. Hugill and Aljofree's academy teammate Maxi Oyedele joined Altrincham on loan earlier this month.

Hugill, 19, arrived at United from Sunderland in the summer of 2020 for £300,000 amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Aljofree, 18, was born in Plymouth and has captained the youth team this season. Salford-born Oyedele, also 18, is a Poland youth international. Oyedele and Hugill travelled to Spain for the United first team's training camp in December.

United U21s played at Altrincham's J. Davidson Stadium twice earlier this season. Altrincham are 13th in the 24-team National League.

Academy graduates Shola Shoretire, Charlie Savage, Di'Shon Bernard and Charlie McNeill have already left on loan this month for Football League clubs.
