Two major Chicago-area hospitals are unaffected so far in national blood shortage

Two major Chicago-area hospitals didn’t report any issues after the American Red Cross declared a national blood shortage this week.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Rush University Medical Center weren’t facing issues because of the shortage, but officials encouraged local residents to donate as an “act of generosity.”
