Two children hoping to catch some fish in a river pulled up a large cache of guns and explosives.
James White, 15, was on a fishing day out with a family friend and their five-year-old son at Linear Park in Bromley, south east London, on Saturday, August 6.
Before starting the activity they decided to take a swim in the warm weather.
However, as James walked in the water, he slipped on what later turned out to be "three magazines from a gun".
It wasn't the only weaponry in he found and nearby the children discovered a large cache of guns and explosives.
Speaking with permission from his mum, James said: "When I found them I said 'I wish it was a bad dream,' but it wasn't a dream and then I found a cone shape and I said 'it might be an explosive'.
"Then I found another set of guns and another cone that looked like an explosive."
The group reportedly found between six and 11 guns, as well as two separate devices which they can only describe as 'explosives'.
They also found several bullets and "magazines" from all the guns which had been "taken apart", in addition to the other guns that they found.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Police were called to Winsford Road, SE6, at 4.49pm on Saturday, August 6 to reports of firearms found in a river. Officers attended.
"A firearm and ammunition were recovered and removed from the scene."
