Murder charge over Hobart unit death

A 53-year-old woman has been charged with murder after the body of a man was discovered in a Hobart apartment.

Emergency services were called to the complex in Harrington Street about 10.20pm on Wednesday following reports of a wounding.

The body of a 51-year-old man was found inside one of the units.

Tasmania Police have charged a woman with one count of murder and breaching a family violence order.

She is scheduled to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A 41-year-old man who was taken into custody by police at the unit was released without charge.

Police allege the trio were well known to each other.

"It is quite a close little community of units. It's quite distressing," Detective Inspector Michael Smith told reporters.

"Something has occurred in there but it didn't involve any of the other residents."
