Police are probing a serious crash in South Lanarkshire that left two hospitalised and a road closed for nine hours.
Officers were called to the A749, Glasgow Road, at its junction with Cairnmuir Road in East Kilbride at around 9.30am on Friday. The smash involved two vehicles, one was a black Volkswagen Polo, details of the second car were not disclosed.
The driver of the black Volkswagen Polo, an 81-year-old woman, was seriously injured and rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Her current medical condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 23-year-old man was taken to East Kilbride's Hairmyres Hospital and later discharged. The road was closed for nine hours, reopening at around 6.30pm.
Police urge anyone with information that could help with their investigation into the crash to come forward.
Sergeant Craig McDonald said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward. We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash who have not yet spoken to the police or who may have dashcam footage.
“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 0710 of Friday, September 23."
