France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Monday said two French embassy officials had been subject to an “extremely serious act of intimidation” by Iranian security services in Iran the day before, having been held and interrogated for hours. One of them was also subjected to physical abuse, he said.
In a statement, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that the two diplomats were targeted by the Iranian officials late on Sunday “in flagrant violation of diplomatic immunity”.
