Two youths, who were taking shelter at a bus stop during rains, died on the spot after they were struck by lightning at Basavanapura in Channarayapatna taluk on Wednesday evening.
They have been identified as Uday Kumar, 24, of Basavanapura and Darshan, 19, of Sosalagere. Following the incident, many villagers and relatives of the dead gathered at the spot. The incident happened in Nuggehalli police limits.
Many parts of Hassan received moderate to heavy rains on the day. The heavy rains coupled with high-speed wind damaged a couple of houses in Channarayapatna taluk. Roads were inundated and those returning home after office hours had a tough time.
