Incumbent Jimmy Gomez (D) and Angela Gonzales-Torres (D) are running in the general election to represent California's 34th Congressional District on Nov. 3.
Featuring two Democrats, the election is set against the backdrop of an investigation into Gomez over alleged sexual misconduct, divisions within the Democratic Party, and the two candidates' stances on U.S. aid to Israel.
On Aug. 17, 2026, the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into Gomez over alleged sexual misconduct, including a claim of sexual harassment and assault. Gomez said he did not violate House Ethics rules and that the interactions were consensual. Gonzales-Torres has called on Gomez to resign and has made the allegations central to her campaign. As of Oct. 15, the investigation was ongoing.
