A free two-day festival is coming to Swansea featuring big-name chefs and live music. Croeso Festival promises to bring the feel-good factor to the city centre with its varied programme of entertainment. Celebrating all things Welsh, the event will take place on Friday February 24, and Saturday, February 25.
Taking place each day from 11am until 4pm the event, organised by Swansea Council in association with First Cymru and support from Welsh Government’s Food & Drink Wales, will feature food and drink at its heart with a dedicated marquee in Portland Street for a packed programme of cooking demonstrations.
Heading the line-up of celebrity chefs and home cooks will be Great British Menu’s Hywel Griffith and Nathan Davies alongside TV’s John Partridge – the Celebrity Masterchef winner who will be showcasing Welsh lamb when he cooks a delicious meatball dish. The sounds of Welsh music will bring Castle Square to life and there’ll be a fun atmosphere with children’s activities and entertainment, including the St David’s Trail to follow and bag yourself a prize. Councillor Robert Francis-Davies, cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: “Croeso kicks off our annual events programme and we’re excited to be bringing it back again to Swansea. It's a great opportunity to showcase some fantastic Welsh food and drink and also attract new people into the city centre to see some of the chefs in action and experience something new in Swansea.”
First Cymru general manager Chris Hanson added: "We're so glad to be part of daily community life in Wales and feel enormously privileged to be able to support this very special celebration of all things Welsh. Croeso promises to be a great two days in Swansea and we're expecting, of course, to be transporting hundreds of our customers to the event."
