Two charged in connection with blaze that ravaged derelict Scots hotel

Two youths have been charged after a blaze at a derelict hotel in Fife.

Emergency services battled the inferno at the Lundin Links hotel in Leven for 17 hours on Thursday, August 18.

The hotel, which has been closed for eight years, was destroyed in the fire.

Fife Council have since announced that the building has been damaged beyond repair and will have to be demolished.

This evening, Police Scotland confirmed two 15-year-old boys have been charged in connection with the fire. They will be reported to the relevant authorities for consideration.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Following a fire at a hotel on Leven Road in Lundin Links that was reported around 9pm on Thursday, 18 August, 2022, two male youths have now been charged.

"The youths, both 15 years old, will be reported to the relevant authorities for consideration."

The building's owner, Kapital Residential Limited, filed for liquidation in June.
