Two Canadian builders turned 612,000 plastic bottles into 2,000-sq-ft home in Nova Scotia; its panels were so strong they withstood sustained winds of 326 mph, twice the strength of Category 5 hurricane

What if hundreds of thousands of discarded plastic bottles could be given a second life as part of a house? Two builders in Nova Scotia, Canada, turned that idea into reality by using recycled plastic bottles to create a roughly 2,000-square-foot home. Built in Meteghan River, the three-bedroom house was developed by Nova Scotia builders Joel German and David Saulnier, founders of JD Composites. The project used around 612,000 recycled plastic bottles, which were transformed into a specialised material used in composite panels for the building.
