Two Bristol City fans receive bans after pleading guilty to violence after Millwall defeat

Two Bristol City fans have pleaded guilty to public order offences following October's game with Millwall with one receiving a ban from Bristol football games for five years.

Gareth Morgan, 30, and Shaun Davey, 50, appeared in court last week charged with one section 4 public order offence in connection with disorder after the league game between the clubs at Ashton Gate which the visitors won 2-1.

Morgan, of Commonfield Road, Lawrence Weston has been handed a fine and banned from attending Bristol matches for five years. Davey from Old Church Road, Clevedon was given an interim football banning order.

Davey will be sentenced at Bristol Magistrates Court on December 14 after his case was adjourned. A statement from Avon and Somerset Police following their arrest, said: "Two men will appear in court next month after being charged with offences following Bristol City’s fixture against Millwall this month.

"Gareth Morgan, 30, and Shaun Davey, 50, were today (Tuesday 25 October) charged with one section 4 public order offence in connection with disorder after the league game between the clubs at Ashton Gate on Saturday 15 October.

"The pair, of Commonfield Road, Lawrence Weston and Old Church Road, Clevedon respectively, have both been released on conditional bail. Their bail conditions include not being allowed to attend any Bristol City match."

Two supporters received bans in the summer following incidents that took place during City matches. A 24-year-old man from Derby ran onto the field to incite home fans during a game in December - receiving a three-year football banning order and a £439 fine.

A City fan also received a three-year ban in February after he was caught trying to ignite a smoke device in the stand. Spencer Pettifor, of Stiling Close in Highbridge, also had to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work as part of a 12-month community order.
