On Sunday morning, two bodies were discovered inside an excavation in Los Angeles, California, as reported by fire officials. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a residence on the 8700 block of N. Lindley Avenue around 10:38 a.m. where they located the victims.
Firefighters noted the presence of a 'white powder substance' within the encampment, described as a 'human-dug cave.' Further analysis revealed that the substance contained fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid.
Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Hilton confirmed the discovery of the fentanyl-laced powder and stated that hazardous material squads safely handled and disposed of it to prevent any harm.
Hazardous Materials teams and Urban Search and Rescue specialists were called to the scene to assist in recovering the bodies. The victims were identified as two adult males, and no signs of foul play were reported by first responders.
Following the recovery operation, Hazmat teams thoroughly investigated the area and ensured that the site was free from any potential dangers.
