Two advocates appointed as Additional Judges of Chhattisgarh High Court

New Delhi: The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of two lawyers as Additional Judges for the Chhattisgarh High Court on Monday.

Notification under Article 224
Notification issued in this regard stated that, in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Bibhu Datta Guru and (ii) Amitendra Kishore Prasad, to be Additional Judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, in that order of seniority, for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

Collegium recommendation on 30 July 
On July 30, 2024, the Collegium consisting of Chief Justice of India Dr DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, and Justice BR Gavai recommended the appointment of advocates Bibhu Datta Guru and Amitendra Kishore Prasad as Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, along with his senior colleagues, had recommended their names in February 2024, with the concurrence of the Chief Minister and Governor of Chhattisgarh. (with Agency inputs)
